December 2020 - Call For Donations
Dear Friends,
Little Hands has been serving not only families, but employers throughout our local communities for 8 years. Offering premium childcare allows our rural businesses opportunities for recruitment which leads to growth and success. Currently, the center is serving close to 40 families, ranging in ages from infant to 12 years of age. We would like to thank you for the generosity provided in past, present, and future.
As you may recall, Little Hands is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Operating as such, we rely heavily on grants, fundraising campaigns, and donations - without these we would not be able to provide our community with the childcare services that are desperately needed.
The operating margin the center runs on is thin. COVID-19 has reduced our childcare numbers due to more families being home for remote learning and/or teleworking. As of November 2020, our childcare revenue is down $55,000. Additionally, federal regulations require the center to hold specific insurances and building code stipulations that total $14,500 each year. As costs continue to rise and childcare revenue decreases, the center is nearly operating in a negative margin.
Little Hands is needing your help. We ask you to please consider making a much-needed donation. Your tax-deductible donations are crucial to ensure that we, as a non-profit organization, can survive and continue to serve families and keep our local businesses thriving.
As a generous donor, your name (or business name) will be placed on our Giving Tree as indicated below, unless you wish to remain an unnamed donor. The donor levels indicate the amount you have donated to Little Hands within the last 5 years.
Thank you for your support and consideration,
The Little Hands Inc., Board of Directors

Welcome!
Little Hands Childcare and Development Center is a licensed non-profit childcare center located in Hiawatha, KS. Our doors opened on April 2, 2012 and since then we have grown to a current enrollment of over 74 children. We recently increased our license capacity to care for 80 children ages 2 weeks to 12 years. Little Hands employs 11 full-time and 7 part time staff. We strive to provide an early childhood education to the children we care for through providing high quality staff who have either higher education in the early childhood field or years of experience with appropriate training. Our facility is equipped with six different classrooms, each accommodating a different age group. These separate classrooms allow the teaching staff to provide developmentally appropriate activities to the children of Little Hands to then promote their school readiness skills.
